International mechanisms for the protection of human rights and indigenous rights
This module seeks to share knowledge about the main international bodies for the defense of indigenous rights and the channels and mechanisms for filing complaints against violations of these rights.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the main mechanisms of the United Nations system and the inter-American system for the protection and defence of indigenous rights
- List the usefulness of the main mechanisms
- Explain how to use the different protection mechanisms
- Demonstrate understanding of the/ of the case studies analyzed and the importance of the sentences (e.g. Sarayaku, Saramanka) for the indigenous movement
